Marine intelligence from a working coast
SeaVRO stands for Vision, Routing & Optimization — and for the belief that the safety and efficiency technology reserved for superyachts belongs on every boat.
Our story
Born from running these waters
SeaVRO started the way most honest marine products do: with a real boat, a real coastline, and a real problem. Running the inlets and sounds of British Columbia means sharing the water with drift logs, deadheads, and gear — while paying coastal fuel prices for every mile. The technology to help existed, but only at prices that made no sense for the boats actually out there. So we started building it ourselves: on our own vessels, in our own conditions, at a price point built around the boats we run.
The opportunity
A wide-open middle of the market
AI-based marine collision avoidance is a proven, growing category — validated at the top of the market by systems selling for $5,000 to $15,000 and up, aimed at ocean racers and superyachts. Below that price, the market is empty: no affordable AI hazard-detection product exists for the millions of recreational and light-commercial vessels that need one most. SeaVRO is built to own that gap.
Underserved fleet
Small sport-fishing boats, cruisers, water taxis, and workboats — the vessels most exposed to floating debris are the ones no existing AI product is priced for.
Defensible data
No public dataset anywhere captures floating logs and deadheads from vessel height in coastal seas. The BC-specific dataset we're building this season is a durable moat.
Platform economics
Vision, optimization, and a network layer share hardware, customers, and data. Each layer makes the next one more valuable — and hazard reduction is a story insurers understand.
How we build
Principles we don't bend
- ✓Skipper in command. Everything we ship is advisory. SeaVRO systems observe and inform — they never take control of a vessel.
- ✓Tested where it's used. Our development boats run the same BC waters our customers do. If it doesn't work in Barkley Sound chop, it doesn't ship.
- ✓Honest numbers. We evaluate our AI with leak-free methodology and publish claims we can stand behind — an aid to the watchkeeper is only useful if it's trusted.
- ✓Work with what's aboard. Existing chartplotters, existing NMEA 2000 networks, the phone in your pocket. Upgrades, not replacements.
